The SERP Institute

The SERP Institute was established in the early 2000s to build long-term partnerships between researchers and school districts working on meaningful problems of practice. The school district identifies a challenging, high-priority problem of practice (e.g., high failure rates of minoritized students) and then commits time and resources to work with researchers who have agreed to take on the problem. The goal is to produce resources that can be uses by many districts to address that problem. Berkeley team has collaborated with the SERP institute for many years, primarily in in partnership with the San Francisco and Oakland Unified School Districts.

The SERP Institute has produced a range of mathematics tools, available here. Alongside the Oakland Unified School District and Mills College, SERP was a major partner in the TRU+LessonStudy project. The project is described in the Tools section, here.
